Statewide Health Information Exchange/Health Data Utility (HIE/HDU)

The Mississippi Department of Health, on behalf of the State, is procuring a contractor to establish, develop, operate, and maintain a connected, statewide health information exchange (HIE), initially providing traditional HIE functions and forming the foundation for a state-directed health data utility (HDU). The HIE is to support phased, bidirectional clinical data exchange across Mississippi, connecting providers and other authorized participants—including rural providers, hospitals, long-term care, behavioral health, emergency systems, public health agencies, payers, community service providers, and patients—using recognized, federally aligned health-IT standards and clear participation rules. Core services include care coordination, trauma response, shared access to clinical information, and a centralized imaging service.
